Prompt Engineering

Short answer

The practice of writing and refining prompts to reliably obtain a desired result.

Prompt engineering is not finding one magic sentence but building a repeatable method: recording what works, reusing the patterns that work, and changing one variable at a time.

The most effective practice is splitting the prompt: a variable subject section and a fixed style section. That preserves consistency across a series.

The second is isolating which part of the prompt did the work when you evaluate a result. Change three things at once and you cannot tell which made the difference.
