Transparent Background
Short answer
An image with an empty background letting whatever is behind it show through (usually PNG).
A transparent background is necessary for placing an image inside a design: t-shirt printing, product collages, icon sets, presentation graphics.
Most AI tools produce a filled background by default. Leonardo AI can output transparency directly; with the others you generate on white and then use a background remover.
JPEG does not support transparency; transparent images must be saved as PNG (or WebP). This is the most common mistake in t-shirt printing.
